Researching the GP practice and partnership post

We will demonstrate how to best to find out important information, including details of remuneration and the level of moral at the practice, so you can make a fully-informed choice about which practice to join.

What are practices really looking for in a future partner?

Your future partnership will be looking for key qualities in their new partner, such as leadership skills. We’ll demonstrate how you can use your previous experience to demonstrate your ability in each skills area.

Preparing the perfect CV/cover letter

First impressions count and this certainly applies to your CV. Our helpful tips will make sure that your CV not only gets read, but gets you an interview too.

The interview – part 1

This session will show you how to avoid nasty surprises on the day including planning your journey and preparing for the interview panel. We’ll also discuss attire, verbal and non-verbal communication and how to build rapport with the interviewer.

The interview – part 2

We’ll take you through questions that you are likely to be asked during the interview process and give suggestions for responses. These will be split into facts, understanding, and scenarios.

Examples of good and bad interview performances

The first interactive sessions of the day will give you the opportunity to review interview performances.

Small group practice

You’ll have the valuable opportunity to put what you have learned during the day into practice in small groups, using templated questions.

The hot seat

Our 2 GP course leaders will ‘interview’ prospective candidates in the hot seat, critiquing their interview technique.

Considerations if offered the post
