The aim of this 1-day course is to develop the essential techniques, skills, knowledge and attendant confidence required for doctors to conduct an effective appraisal interview. Dealing with appraisals is a skill in itself, which many medics may not have had a chance to develop before they are asked to perform one.

• Describe how to handle different types of people in a constructive and positive manner
• Demonstrate the key skills and behaviours in a roleplay appraisal interview
• Complete a Personal Development Plan that will ensure learning from the course is used effectively back in the workplace.
